COMO is pleased to announce the Long-term Projects Workshop in May 2025. Join photographer Louie Palu and photo editor Chloe Coleman for this two-day workshop on developing and sustaining long-term creative projects. In this workshop, participants will gain insight into book editing and publishing, exhibition concept, design, and sequencing, managing your archive, working with curators and photo editors, and expanding your revenue streams with a detailed grant writing lesson.
Chloe Coleman is a senior photo editor at The Washington Post where she has worked for 10-years. She was on a 2020 Pulitzer Prize winning team at The Post, and amongst many other awards was also selected as a Magazine Picture Editor of the Year in 2022. In addition, she has worked as a photo editor at the Denver Post and NPR. Chloe has worked on several award-winning zines, books, exhibitions, and helps manage and collect work for Archive 192. Chloe also serves as a faculty member at The Kalish Visual Editing Workshop, is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, and has worked as a juror and portfolio reviewer internationally.
Louie Palu is a photographer and filmmaker whose work has examines social political issues. He is best known for hybrid approaches to creating work that incorporates art and documentary. Louie’s projects have been selected for a Guggenheim Fellowship and World Press Photo Award, and has appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, and Dok Munich Film Festival. His work is held and been exhibited in numerous collections including the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and National Gallery of Art. He is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design and holds an MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art.

Wetplate workshop
november 2025
Join David Emitt Adams for this introductory three-day workshop on the collodion process with metal as a substrate. In this workshop participants will work with large-format cameras using studio and natural light to create unique images in the traditions of portraiture, still life, and landscape. Participants will gain in-depth knowledge of the chemistry (mixing, replenishing, and caring for it), coating and sensitizing plates, exposure, and development. Participants may bring their own camera otherwise cameras and equipment will be supplied by COMO. All levels, no prior experience needed.

One-on-one appointments
COMO offers one-on-one appointments for those interested in getting started with photography or to dive deeper in to a particular topic or process. Current offerings focus on SLR (analog), DSLR (digital), or mirrorless camera use. These one-on-one appointments are perfect if you have a camera and want to better understand your camera settings and functionality.
